When we started out in 2004 it was our intention to conduct large scale wine and food promotions at the highest level in China. The concept was naive, and we very quickly realised the need to work slowly to build contacts at the right level and to take on less ambitious (and risky) ventures.
What SAUCHIN 2004 did for us was in the end quite amazing. It established our reputation for tenacity and the ability to deliver the promise, but most of all it established our contact base. We still get offers from China and Asia as a result of that first promotion.
It was never our intention to involve ourselves in the Olympic year which places way too many pressures on our already stretched colleagues in China. We continue with the estages, which are not just a great experience for them and the Australians they work with, but they also equate to the long–term loyalty to South Australia and Australia. They have all become our close friends and the mentoring continues. Importantly, both Lily Wang and Liang Tang have been promoted to senior management positions within their respective companies.
We are available for one–off events (time permitting) in Shanghai, Chengdu or Beijing and able to event manage external events.

Ann Oliver will make a trip to Shanghai in September 2009 to collect more material for Galaxy Guides and to renew contacts. She is considering taking a small group interested professionals to explore the dining scene and meet up with chefs and key operators in the wine and food trade in Shanghai. Information will be posted in our newsletter.
